Antibiotics act selectively against bacteria by interfering with their vital mechanisms (bacterial wall, protein synthesis, etc.), and either kill the bacteria or block their proliferation. In this sense, antibiotics help the immune system repair the infected organism. 

Antibiotics should be taken only in case of real need and according to the doctor's clinical opinion, carefully following the methods, time and duration of the prescribed treatment, thus avoiding the appearance of bacterial resistance.
