For over 25 years the Fair Play Menarini International Award has encouraged the great values of sport. Founded in 1997, the Fair Play Menarini International Award today is considered one of the most important acknowledgements of the values of ethics and fair play in the world of sport.
This coveted accolade is a recognition conferred, every year, to sporting champions, people and institutions from both the national and international scene who, over the course of their careers, have distinguished themselves as models of virtuous behaviour, both on and off the playing field. The Fair Play Menarini International Award fosters and encourages three fundamental values: Ethics, Loyalty, and Respect - all of which are incorporated in the DNA of both Menarini and the over 330 awardees who have become Fair Play Ambassadors around the world and who are committed to passing on these values , both on and off the field. Once again this year's XXVI edition provided an extraordinary opportunity to acknowledge and share the best of sporting culture, whilst flying the flag for universal ideals, success stories, altruism and hope, the fight against discrimination, and friendship despite differences, bringing together some of the finest and most unforgettable sportsmen and women from both mainstream and lesser known sports such as record-breaking Australians Casey Stoner, Ian Thorpe, and unparalleled sporting legends such as Edwin Moses, Federica Pellegrini and many others.
The Fair Play Menarini International Award, however, is so much more than just sport as Menarini Group CEO reminded us: "Fair Play is a mindset! It does not just apply to sports but what we employ as an everyday value at Menarini. We are proud to award and celebrate the passion and ethics of today’s champions and wish many people to follow course in the coming years championing the Fair Play attitude."
Top-level sportsmen and women have a responsability that goes above and beyond honouring their team, their sport or the nation they represent.
